The work presents on the reverse an old expertise preserved despite the recent relining, in which the painting was attributed to Gerolamo Bassano. Actually it seems more akin to the manner of Bonifacio de' Pitati. He's also from Veneto, but closer to the ways of Palma il Vecchio, of which he was a pupil.
There are some restorations, especially in the lower part of the table and in the third character to the left. In a gilded frame.
