Important pendulum clock called "A Portico", France, Louis XVI, late 18th century
56 x 15 x 50 cm
In white marble with chiseled and gilded bronzes. Pillars in red French marble surmounted by sculptures, in burnished bronze, representing Hercules and Omphale Queen of Lydia.
Rare mechanical movement, with a calendar divided into thirty days, hours and minutes. The division of the dial into 30 days instead of 31 is explained by the fact that the watch was made during the French Revolution (1789-1793), when the calendar was reformed.
The dial signed "Drouot à Paris" is surmounted by a gilded bronze plant trophy.
