The painting depicts the Marchioness of Baglion, in the variant in which she poses with doves, exactly as in the version preserved at the Museum of Art in Philadelphia. In the American catalogue the work is listed as attributed to the "Bottega di Nattier", a variant of the more famous version of the portrait of the Marchioness as Flora, preserved at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich.
